Sounds exciting, right?!
I thought that stopping at Windell's cafe in Steadfast would give everything a chance to dry up a little bit before I started climbing up the hill.... but my luck brought more rain instead of sunshine while I waited.
Walking barefoot down the Hummingbird Highway in the rain.
I don't know if everyone has this problem with their flip-flops, but once mine get wet, they're completely impossible to walk in and I feel like I'm at risk of a twisted ankle if I don't get rid of them.
Heading up there... above the cloud.
Jamie was at the bus stop when I got into Alta Vista and he walked me up the driveway... good thing, too, because it was so slippery that I don't think I could have made it without him pulling me up a few spots.
halfway up the driveway, still heading up and into the cloud.
I was surprised that it only took me an hour and a half to make it home from the cafe... I guess being barefoot doesn't slow me down as much as I thought it would.
you can't really see it, but there was mud splashed all over my legs.
I was definitely a hot mess when I got home.
There's really not much else to tell you about - I've just been home, sweeping floors, picking ticks off of the dogs, napping, and watching movies...
We get bootleg movies here (don't tell the authorities) for $3bz, and only occasionally come across one that is either too shaky to watch or the audio is too mumbled to understand, but most of them are decent copies. (We watch them on my laptop through my external DVD player.)
the collection grows every time one of us goes out.
One of my new favorites is Seeking a Friend for the End of the World
If anyone is thinking to themselves, "What could I stick in a care package to send to Carrie?" here's a list of a few of my favorite movies that I don't own....
Natural Born Killers Selena
House of 1,000 Corpses Jack the Bear
The Devil's Rejects Pay it Forward
Arthur (the original) Jolene
Rob Zombie's Halloween Almost Famous
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Eat, Pray, Love
Memento High fidelity
8 Seconds Drop Dead Fred
I went out to the greenhouse for the first time since my Turkey died.... Trip has been doing all the weeding and watering and whatever else he does in there to help things grow.
cabbage, carrots, onions, radishes, cucumbers, tomatoes...
Using an old paint can as an upside down tomato grower.
we have some pretty chickens...
There's a dark one with a lot of emerald green feathers, but she wouldn't agree to being photographed.
The cat enclosure is finally finished... Muffin seems to have escaped somehow because she hasn't been home since Sunday morning, and Bubby only likes to go as far as the platform right outside the door.
I don't think he's realized that the dogs can't get in there yet.
staring over at the chickens
Lemongrass growing around the enclosure
Here's a video of Bubs helping me clean....
