Moving to, living in, and dealing with life in a new country... this is a blog for old friends, new friends, and strangers who feel like checking in once in a while to see what I'm up to down here in Belize.
Nice having coffee with you at Licks today.
I came across your blog and I think I have read everything in order to current. So, did I miss a blog about the marriage break up or did you not write about it? The house he was building looked totally awesome.
Yeah man everything he's doing looks really nice - I miss it there! I didn't post about the break up, I don't usually share ALL my drama ;)
And I am living vicariously through you BTW. Started out like you many years ago but now married with grown children and too old to romp like you, but would love to live there. :)
It's definitely nice here :)
Hi Carrie, I've been reading and enjoying your blog now for a while. I had a question and was hoping that maybe you could give me some insight. Are there job opportunities in Belize for someone who has a degree in Public Administration? I just turned 49 and wondering. Please email me back at yazman010266@gmail. com when you can.Thank you,Mike
Hey Mike - I'm sorry, I really wouldn't know anything about jobs unless it's in the service industry!
Hi Carrie, greetings from Schwenksville. My name is Mark. I live on the back of Spring Mountain, right around the corner from the Philadelphia Folk Festival. I am seriously considering moving to Belize after my daughter graduates from High School. That will be just over two years from now. This gives me lots of time to save and prepare. I will be looking at the Cayo District as I am an Industrial Maintenance Technician. Spanish Lookout looks to have industry that I would fit into, employment wise. I have been enjoying your blog and thought that I would say hi.
Hey Mark! Cayo is lovely, I'm sure you'll love it there!
Hi Carrie!I found your blog through your interview with BASEDTraveler. Your blog is fantastic and I will definitely be following it from now on! :) I am looking at spending an extended stay there in the spring - maybe 3 to 6 months - and am reaching out to any current residents to see if you have any advice on where to find a reasonable long-term rental like that? I figured San Pedro would be a little out of my price range and have looked at the Caulker Caye as well. I would ideally like to supplement the stay with some part time work. I've worked as a server, bartender, barista, manger, and anything else really in the industry. I've visited Belize 3 times already with family and have stayed in the super touristy part. Would love to check it out for a couple months and see how it is to actually live there. Your interview in BASED was great by the way! I also really liked your blog about the decorative pillows. They are the bain of every employee's existence!! Thanks again for any of your time and help.Best Regards,Caitlin O'Brien
Caitlin! I'm so sorry - I don't know how I missed this comment!! Let me know if you still need leads for apartment rentals.Finding part time work will be impossible unless you buy a work permit, which can take 3-6 months to get approved and you are not allowed to work until you physically have it.
Hi Carrie! No worries :) I am still looking for apartment rentals. My goal is February or March right now and I'd like to be in belize for a minimum of 3-6 months. Thank you for the heads up on the work permit! Any advice on that process? I will start researching today. Thank you for the response and I will keep a better eye out for the response this time! Caitlin
Also, is there an email or direct contact link to ask you a few more questions? Thank you!!
